Moo-oove over Betsy
|
Summary:
Regular Bible study requires a commitment, one all too often postponed. But our spirits need spiritual milk, milk we can only get from the word of God. So look out Betsy, you"ve got competition! |
Details or Sample:
As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
If so be ye have tasted, that the Lord is gracious. 1 Peter 2: 2,3

Do you know many adults who drink a glass of milk regularly? Probably not too many.
When we were younger and were growing teeth and bones, most of us drank it often. But now that were grown, most of us skip the milk and get our dairy in ice cream, yogurt, and cheese.
With the Bible, its that way with a lot of us. When were growing up we study it and then we figure its enough to get a review lesson in church.
With our busy schedules, its an easy habit to develop. Yet when we do this, we make it harder for God to teach us.
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth, the Bible tells us in 2 Timothy 2:15.
Regular Bible study requires a commitment. Frankly, it wasnt a commitment I learned to make until I was an adult, and only then with the Holy Spirits nudging.
Like many folks, I found myself reading the Bible in a doctors office, or in times of trouble. The Psalms were great to turn to when I was sick, or feeling blue. But sticking to a regular study routine, well, that was another story altogether.
The commitment didnt come until after I surrendered my life to God. I was suffering from an incurable immune disorder and I was out of options. So I gave my life to God and he healed me miraculously.
