Mozart is by far one of the most well-recognized names in classical music, along with others such as Haydn, Beethoven and Bach. His work was respected both at the time and after his death by fellow composers and the public alike. Mozart lived and worked during a time when western music was evolving into ever more complex styles of music, and helped to make classical music what it is now.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in 1756 in Salzburg, Austria. His father was a leading music scholar and soon recognized his sons musical talents - which began to become apparent as early as three years old. Mozart spent much of his early life traveling with his father around Europe, and being exposed to many well-known composers as well as many styles of music.

Mozart eventually settled in Vienna, and after marrying against his fathers wishes in 1782 began to achieve some success and renown with a series of operas and concertos. Beginning in 1785 he began to write and perform less, some believe he was hampered by an injured hand, or perhaps he was losing popularity in a time when those who attended musical events were notoriously fickle.
