Scheduling Your Time and Doing It Effectively

The purpose of a schedule is to help lay out the tasks that need to be done, so that you can both remember it later, and have a better chance at getting what you need to finish done. It can help keep you organized in your hectic lifestyle or on the ball in your laid-back and peaceful one.

Some things to think about when making your schedule:

- Once you´ve made yourself a schedule - stick by it. Just don´t overfill your schedule with tons of things you know can´t be finished in the allotted times. Only write in a reasonable amount of tasks that you think you can finish.

- Add little rewards into the schedule, like once I finish this big task, I´ll have a break and watch a movie, or eat some chocolate. Whatever will make you want to finish. But don´t go and get the reward, until after the task is complete.

- Don´t look at the big tasks as one big thing to do, or you will keep putting it off. Break things into little sections. Instead of writing "clean the house" on your schedule, write "clean the living room" and "clean the bathrooms".

... skipping ahead ...

There are many ways to remind yourself - a day planner, writing yourself little "notes´, marking it on the calendar in the kitchen, choose whatever method works for you. I personally use a system of day planner / notes.

Another handy tool to think about is an electronic organizer. Once it comes to the time you´ve scheduled for a certain task, it´ll let you know by beeping, chiming or whatever noises yours happens to make. This can also help if you schedule in break time. This way you´ll know that it´s time to get back down to business.
