The Human Genome Project: Ethical Concerns and Science Collide-Sociological, Biological, Psychological, and Anthropological Elements Entangled in Debate. The human genome project is a massive work thwarted to unlock our DNA and genetic code, with many applicable uses. In identifying a patient"s specific genetic composition, or genotype, scientists hope to more accurately "tailor" drugs to fit individual people. There are many advantages to health professionals, medical researchers, pharmaceutical companies, and geneticists, not to mention the benefits for their patients. Surely science can more accurately facilitate further progress in both physical and mental health care practices, specifically through the study of our DNA and genetic material: the goal in the human genome project. Unavailingly, there also are many ethical, and moral issues, which are often overlooked by scientific researchers.
