Michael Kang: Portrait of a Young Filmmaker
Michael Kang is a young Korean-American filmmaker on the rise. His first feature length film The Motel netted him entry into three Sundance Labs, garnered the 24th Annual Asian American International Film Festival Screenplay Competition and the 2003 Sundance/NHK International Filmmakers Award. The completed movie premiered at this year"s Sundance Film Festival. And it was shown in the Independent Feature"s Project "Best of Fest" program at the 55th Annual Berlin International Film Festival, where it also had a market screening for international distribution. This past March., it was the closing night film at the San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival.
