I am a freelance consultant providing business communication and collaboration solutions. I specialize in the development of:
SharePoint site architecture, business intelligence, and business workflows.
InfoPath business form and workflow development, testing and deployment.
Business communications writing and training.
I have been writing professionally for over twenty years. Initially trained as an aircraft engineer, I compiled aircraft maintenance documents and policy documents for the British Ministry of Defense.
Upon leaving the service, I joined Instron, a manufacturer of complex materials testing instruments, accessories, and control and analysis software. As the publications manager, I introduced online documentation into the corporation and managed translations of company documents into more than 20 languages. I led, and contributed to, projects on software user interface design and usability testing, and written and published a wide range of corporate and private documents, newsletters, and web site content. Together with a colleague, I won an award of excellence from the Society for Technical Communication for the online hep and reference documentation for the company's flagship software application.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Biology and a Master's degree in Professional and Technical Writing. I have taught an online documentation course in the Technical Communication Master's program at Northeastern University as an Associate Professor.
