Brett Weiss
Author
I'm a scribe of all things science fiction, fantasy, and horror, which is a rather wide umbrella that includes writing about comic books, video games, and movies. I also write about fitness, nutrition, healthy living, self-help, and other subjects.
I've had short stories published in a number of small press magazines, but non-fiction is my literary bread and butter. My career in non-fiction writing began with the All Game Guide, which allowed me to quit my day job at Waldenbooks.
Buoyed by the notion of working from home and writing for a living, I have since become a member of the Comics Buyer's Guide Review Crew and have had articles published in Game Informer, Video Game Trader, Classic Gamer Magazine, Scary Monsters, Toy Shop, Toy Cars & Models, Comic Effect, Back Issue Magazine, Alter Ego, and other publications. I'm also an archivist for mycomicshop.com, writing comic book descriptions.
A proponent of healthy, happy living, I also write self-help articles on fitness, nutrition, exercise, positive thinking, and the like.
More importantly, I'm the author of Classic Home Video Games 1972-1984 (McFarland, 2007) and Classic Home Video Games 1985-1988 (McFarland, 2009), and I'm currently working on a third volume.
When not writing, I enjoy reading, hiking, bicycling, playing basketball, watching movies, playing video games, and hanging out with my wife and kids.
I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area with my lovely wife, who is essential in helping me with various computer and photography conundrums that frequently arise; our two wonderful kids, who do a great job of making life fun; and a crazy dog and a sweet cat.
